Today, President Obama announced that 30,000 additional US troops will be sent to Afghanistan over the next six months in support of General McChrystal’s counterinsurgency strategy.

We know from Iraq that a properly resourced counterinsurgency strategy will bring our troops home faster.

Sadly, Rep. Barbara Lee has introduced a bill, H.R. 3699, which would prohibit funding to these additional troops. The bill has 23 cosponsors, including Reps. Dennis Kucinich and Jim McDermott. In the face of this opposition, we need your help to ensure that Congress provides the resources our troops need to succeed.

Fortunately, Sen. John McCain, Rep. Mike Pence, Rep. Eric Cantor, and others have pledged to fight back and ensure the troops get the resources they need.
